Intimacy Works: Relating and loving skills for couples and individuals

About priya and bob Us

We are down-to-earth, compassionate, passionate in our beliefs and unafraid to be honest.
We have over 20 years combined experience helping individuals and couples in all ages and stages of relationships.

We approach the delicate issues of love and intimacy with understanding and sensitivity, always holding them in an atmosphere of integrity and safety. We are deeply moved by how intimacy can seem so distant for many. We are passionate about helping people discover the depth and joy of loving connection. We believe that when people experience more love in their lives, the world becomes a better place.

We hold three things paramount in the work that we do.

  • We believe that the best way to make significant life changes that really “stick” is by direct experience. Our Intimacy Works! courses, groups, retreats, and private sessions are all experiential rather than just lecturing or intellectual.
  • We believe that the people who put their trust in us deserve our utmost consideration. Both in our work and in our lives, we follow the principles of treating people with:
                     dignity, respect, understanding, trust,
                                kindness, compassion, honesty and love.
  • We trust that people know what is best for themselves. We gently guide them on their journey, while fully supporting their personal choices, learning and growing at their own pace.

Priya's background

Priyatama is a holistic psychotherapist with in-depth training in the Sacred Art of Tantra. After working for years as a social worker, she completed her training as a psychotherapist at the Chiron Centre for Body Psychotherapy and started her private practice. Seeing how many of her clients and the people she met struggle with issues of intimacy in relationships, she expanded her skills with a course of study at Skydancing Tantra. In 1998 she discovered the US-based Human Awareness Institute (HAI), a pioneer in experiential workshops about love, intimacy and sexuality. Priya was so inspired that she took on representing HAI in the UK and has produced or facilitated over 50 HAI workshops and introductory events. She has also created and led many Tantra-based relationship workshops both in the UK and the USA.

Bob's background

Before concentrating fulltime on creating and leading workshops with Priya, Bob coordinated 'production communications' for live events such as Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies, US presidential inaugurations and the Oscar awards. Bob joined the Human Awareness Institute in 1990 and has been involved with more than 150 HAI workshops. He has received training in contemporary psychotherapy and NLP. His practical 'hands-on' approach to the deep and often sensitive aspects of personal relationships make him a perfect facilitation partner with Priya.

Together:

Priya and Bob met at a HAI workshop in California in 1999. Bob frequently came to the UK to help run the HAI workshops, and seeing what Priya had to offer as a workshop facilitator, invited her to the USA to lead several workshops there. Their connection deepened into love, and they married in 2002. Bob moved to the UK and they started leading workshops together for couples and individuals who want to create and sustain great relationships. They have created and led many workshops and courses for Intimacy Works, HAI, and private organizations, including Alternatives in London and the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland.

Priya and Bob help people to relate better at all stages of a relationship from early in new ones to healing stuck patterns in longstanding partnerships. They deal with all aspects, especially love, intimacy and sexuality. Their combined experience observing and working with many couples and individuals over more than 20 years has helped them identify the fundamental principles of great relationships.

Priya and Bob love to inspire people to bring more love, intimacy and connection into their lives. They love to share with others the ideas and concepts that they have found work in their own relationship. Their workshops are both 'experiential' and heart-centred (not lecturing or intellectual), providing concrete, practical 'tools' that people can take home and use to improve all of their connections with others.
